On the way home from my recent road trip to the region of the Black Hills in South Dakota, one of our last stops was Iowa City, home of the prestigious Iowa Writers' Workshop and to Prairie Lights bookstore -- a favorite. There on a display of refrigerator magnets I found this quote from Jack Kerouac:
"The only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn, like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars ..."
I thought this was fitting, as Gregg and I are headed out on yet another road trip to mingle with mad radiant people of this ilk at the 2007 CPSI Conference -- "The Nature of Innovation" at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia - June 24-29. Besides, we're both big Kerouac fans. And the road -- the one "less traveled" -- calls again.
